The big question for people looking at getting a sales job in the pharmaceutical industry moving into 2012 is which pharmaceutical companies are hiring this year. The main companies like Astra Zenica (AZ), Pfizer, Merck and Novartis are still of course the main big drivers of hiring right now but there is a huge wave of new generics that are coming out on the market place. Lipitor as an example is the largest selling pharmaceutical product that the world has ever seen. This product sent Pfizer Inc. into another world of pharmaceutical companies. That one drug alone sells as much as entire other companies. This product is going generic so you can imagine how many companies there are out there that are trying to get into this marketplace. Generics will be hiring that is an absolute given. Companies like Teva, Novopharm and many others.

If you are a person that is trying to get into the world of selling you really need to target the companies that are most likely hiring people and expanding the sales force. Though do not discount the big ones that are keeping an existing sales force replenished with new workers. A recent Wikipedia search I did yielded these results for the top ten pharmaceutical companies. Johnson and Johnson, Pfizer, Roche, GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, Sanofi, AstraZeneca, Abbott Laboratories, Merck and Bayer. You can bet that building a relationship with any of these is going to give you some significant leads to work on. I would concider all of these as fairly stable pharmaceutical companies and would be hiring well into the next couple of years. 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Many of these companies are going through a major restructuring world wide. All of these companies core pharmaceutical brands are going generic. This generic pressure is going to affect how the company is hiring in the future moving forward. As the company laysoff people and restructures at first glance some may conclude that they would not be hiring. However a lot of people are going to be getting new products, new managers and new territories. Some of these are not going to stick. There is going to be a large wave of people with in the organizations making changes. This will free up many new postitions. Why not make one of these positions yours. They are great careers. Go to www.pharmacareerguide.com and download the Ebook to start your career now.

A current perspective on the pharmaceutical industry. This is targeted at the pharmaceutical sales professional trying to break into a highly competitive and lucrative industry.

There is a major upheaval within the pharmaceutical industry. We are in what I would call the post “COLD WAR” of the industry. Around 10 years ago with the launch of a number of blockbuster products like Lipitor and Celebrex, the companies embarked on an arms race of a sort. Through out this time they started hiring massive numbers of pharmaceutical sales people and marketing people to promote these products.

The thought was if one company was going to have one sales representative in the territory selling a product, a competitive company would hire two sales reps per territory. Then the race was on. A company would get three sales reps then four and so on and so forth. This had massive impact on the industry. In some places there would be eight sales people per territory. It was absurd and expensive. In fact, I read a report that if you had a breadbasket of the 50 biggest pharmaceutical stocks from the year 1999 to now 2012, as a shareholder you would have made zero return on these stocks. This is profound because this was during some of the most lucrative blockbuster years the industry has seen. Selling products like Celebrex, Lipitor and numerous other blockbusters and not a penny was returned to investors. All this is in a turn around phase because this cannot continue.

Jobs in this industry are highly coveted. They are out there and you can make some great money in a very rewarding career. In my mind, the industry is going to go back to the old days where you have one rep per territory with a couple of good pharmaceutical products and it is old style selling. Reading my book can help you get that career. www.pharmacareerguide.com

This is without a doubt one of the most common questions that I get asked by people who would like to enter into the pharmaceutical industry:“Is it necessary for people to have a university degree in order to get into pharmaceutical sales as a career?”

In fact, I have received so many letters with this same question that I think it is time to address the issue.

The truth to this is that there is no correct answer. I have worked in this industry for many years and most people that I have met and worked with do have a degree.

However, do I know people working in the industry that do not have a university degree? Yes, absolutely! In fact, many of the best sales people I know do not have a degree.

I think that for the most part a couple of generalities will hold true.

The really big pharmaceutical companies will most likely be hard-line sticklers on the degree issue and it will be more difficult to get hired by one of these companies without one. At the same time, I have met a number of people working for the Big Ten Pharmaceutical Companies chest and most successful people in the world).

There are also some really exciting areas of health care sales to think about as well. These can be both extremely interesting and extremely lucrative. Medical supply companies or medical device
companies are one example of growth areas and many of them are looking to expand. These companies will often hire people that can sell regardless of educational background.

Sales ability! This is the key. I know that I often mention the importance of sales ability, but a person really must have knowledge in this area if they are to succeed. It’s true regardless of a person’s level of education.

Let’s look at the flip side. Say someone has a degree from university. Are they guaranteed entrance into the industry?

No – absolutely not!

They need to sell on their strengths, and a degree is only a small part of this process.

I really focus on this aspect in my book which lays out a simple step-by-step method to achieve this knowledge and succeed. One of the key principles of this is to sell on your strengths – not the perceived weakness. (I say this because there are people who do not have university degrees and yet are the richest and most successful people in the world).

HIGHLIGHT WHAT YOU DO HAVE and not what you don’t have! Sell your strengths! I am sure that you have plenty.

Now let’s be clear. I am not suggesting you lie or hide the fact that you don’t have something, not for a minute. But do not highlight it or advertise it.

Let me give you a quick analogy. Lets pretend I am a sales person in a bike store. I am with a client and am trying to sell them a bike. Would I tell them all the things my bike doesn’t have or can’t do? Of course not. I know this sounds ridiculous, but sales people have done this with me so many times. It almost appears that the sales person is trying to un-sell the product.

One summary statement on the issue!

If you don’t have a degree you still can enter into this exciting industry. However if you do not learn to sell your strengths, you will have trouble entering into the industry. The mere fact that someone has a degree does not mean that they can sell. You must learn to make someone want to hire you because of your strengths, in spite of the fact that you may not have the level of education that they prefer.

Good luck – I know that you can do it!

During the Summer I have a little habit that I use for my success. I get together with a group of like minded business people and go on a little vacation. These people are “mentors” that I respect terribly. The reason I respect them is that they challenge me. They make me set some new goals so that by the next year that we get together my life is better.

They are tough as well, if I mess up they tell me. But most of all they encourage me to challenge myself. Ultimately it is good for me. Now it is time to Challenge yourself.

At some point you said to yourself I want to get into a new career in pharmaceuticals. I want a good life. I want more money. I want to speak to new interesting professionals, I want to be in a stable industry. Or maybe it was something else that is good about this fantastic industry.

What ever it was it is time that you challenge yourself to get something new started. Why wait life is only going to pass you by. The world is yours if you just get started and September is a fantastic time.

The kids are back in school, everyone is rested after summer vacation, they got some sun and are in good moods. The summer generally slows everything down in the pharmaceutical world. I use to have one colleague that used to do nothing but take his clients out for lunch during the summer. Usually on his motorcycle. The hardest part is to start. So get started.

No kidding, you say! Well here is the catch!

Say you tell them that you are creative and think outside the box. The next question that will be thrown at you is to ask you to explain how in the last week you have been so creative and thought outside the box.

So make sure that you have thought about what you are going to say when you are asked to give your strengths and weaknesses in an interview. The questioning never stops there.

(That’s the post where I asked if you’re happy with your current success, and if not, what’s holding you back.)

Here’s what one of my subscribers named James had to share:

“Hunter, thanks for getting me off my butt. (Well, starting to, anyway.) I’ve been struggling for years in a company that’s just never going to reward me with the kind of promotion and pay i think I’m worth.

“I’ve daydreamed for years about making a big switch. But now I’m motivated, I’m ready, and I’m full of fire. Can’t wait for you to lay this big surprise on me–I’ll be waiting.”

James, I know just what you’re talking about, believe me. Heck, before I broke into the pharma sales industry, I was busting my behind as a waiter in a steak and seafood restaurant!

But I made the change, and today I thank my lucky stars that I took a chance and did it. Every day brings more wealth, more financial security, and that feeling you get when you’re getting further ahead every day.

And I want to give you, my subscribers, the chance to get exactly where I am today.

If you’re ready to make the big move, you’ll get your chance…

I’m still putting the finishing touches on it, but I’ll unveil it bright and early tomorrow morning — and trust me, you’ll want to see this one.

You’ll learn the real answer in just three days! Keep reading…

Readers, I don’t know about your personal situation — but when I look at what’s happening financially all around the globe all I can say is…

… Yikes!

With the housing market in the US and worldwide going down the tubes, oil and gas prices skyrocketing, and companies everywhere going into full-on recession mode — it’s harder than ever for most people to build real, lasting wealth.

If you’ve been unfortunate enough to suffer the loss of your job, the loss of your home’s precious equity, or even just the opportunities that went away with the last signs of our booming economy — my heart goes out to you.

But whether you’re still working in your current field, or if you’re just wondering how you’ll ever break into the world of lasting professional success… I’ve got two words that you’ll be happy to hear:

“Recession-proof.”

I’m talking, of course, about big pharmaceutical companies like the one I work for. Sure, their stock prices may go up and down, but these financial juggernauts are here to stay. Why?

Because no matter what happens to the world economy, people will always need the medicines these companies develop.

They say only two things are certain in life — death and taxes — but I’d propose a third thing: the lasting wealth generated by the pharmaceutical industry.

So if your own financial future has been looking less than perfect lately, believe me, you’re not alone. Many of my friends have lost jobs, seen investments go south, and worse in the last year.

That’s why I find my own career in pharmaceutical sales so comforting in times like these. Because despite the stormy economy, my decision to work in this field ensures that I can continue to live in my comfortable home and support my growing family. There’s no better feeling.

(And the company car and free gas sure prevent me from ever worrying about oil prices either!)

There’s more competition than ever for these lucrative positions that come with all the perks… but if you know how to “play the game,” you can practically guarantee yourself an insider advantage to a high-paying new career.

And because times are tough and you’re probably low on cash to make the big move, I’m putting together something truly special that will make it easy for ANYONE — whether you’re unemployed, a student, or even working in another field — to step into the exciting world of unlimited opportunities in pharma sales.

Are you curious?

Well, you’ll have to wait just a few days while I put the finishing touches on it. I promise — it’ll be worth the wait.

In the meantime, I have a question to ask:

Are you happy with your current success? And if not… what’s holding you back from making a change RIGHT NOW?

Why don’t you write me back and let me know? I’d love to hear your opinions.

And just to make it worth your while, I’ll add all responses to a draw for a free copy of my Pharma Career Guide Interview Success System!

Write me back at hunterdavis (at) pharmacareerguide (dot) com, or by visiting my contact page, or by submitting your answers in the comments section below.

I’ll announce the winner in three days — and I’ll reveal the secret plan I’m working on too.

Here’s to your success!

All I can say is… wow!

When I decided to launch my 45-day Pharma Career Challenge yesterday, giving 45 people the opportunity to test-drive my industry-changing Pharma Career Guide Interview Success System for 45 full days…

… well, I honestly had no idea there would be this kind of response.

I mean, I only made it available to those of you who have signed up through my website — so I already knew that you’re serious about getting started in the pharmaceutical sales industry.

But I didn’t expect NEARLY ALL of the 45 special “trial” copies of my system to sell out in the FIRST DAY!

(And I didn’t even mention the fact that you can get your hands on one for just $2.95!)

That’s why I just wanted to email you today and let you know that there are still 12 copies left at the $2.95 “trial” rate. Once those are gone, I can’t promise I’ll offer this special promotion again. If you miss it, I’m sorry, but you’ll have to pay the usual $47 price.

So why not step up and take the challenge? If any part of it doesn’t work for you, just cancel and you’ve only risked $2.95… the price of a latte.

If this is the year you’re going to make the big change and break into the industry, now’s your chance. Pick up one of the final 12 packages and I personally guarantee you can be working at the company of your choice within 45 days.

For details — or just to see if any copies are left — visit:

www.pharmacareerguide.com/challenge.html

You can do this.

To your success,

Hunter Davis

P.S. Remember, there are just 12 packages left at the ridiculous “challenge” price of $2.95 for 45 days. To claim yours, visit:

Here’s the challenge: I’m giving 45 people ridiculously cheap access to everything you need to guarantee yourself a high-paying career in pharma sales.Follow the system and you’ll be working in this industry within 45 days. Guaranteed.

Read on to learn how the Pharma Career Challenge can change your life and fast-track your success and wealth — starting today!

Many subscribers have personally written to me in the past three days, telling me about your hopes, dreams, and ambitions for landing the high-paying career you’ve always wanted.

I’ve read every one of your emails — and between reading them, I’ve put the finishing touches on the big secret that I’ve been developing:

The Pharma Career Challenge.

Having hopes and dreams is easy. We all have them. What separates the truly successful people from the rest of the crowd is the way you answer one question:

“Are you ready to step up and take action?”

If you’re ready to fast-track your career success and get going NOW in one of the highest-paying industries out there — I’m making it completely simple AND ridiculously cheap for you to do it.

Follow the system and I guarantee you’ll be working in this industry within 45 days. It’s that simple.

I’ve designed this system to be so affordable that there’s literally no excuse not to get started right away. In fact, getting going will cost you less than a fancy coffee at Starbucks.

But it’s only for the first 45 people who sign up.

For details, visit:

www.pharmacareerguide.com/challenge.html

I’d also like to congratulate Michael Mathewson of Davis Bay, BC, whose email response was drawn at random to receive a copy of the Pharma Career Guide Interview Success System. Michael, your package is on its way!

And here’s my question to the rest of you: Are you content to stay where you are right now — or would you rather make the leap into a new world of wealth and personal freedom?

I’ve lowered the bar for you here to help you get in the game. I hope you’ll take the challenge — you’ll never look back.

Are YOU up for the challenge?

To your success,

Hunter

P.S. If you’re wondering whether you’ll be able to afford this, I assure you — you’ll laugh when you see how ridiculously affordable it is (hint… it costs less than a latte at Starbucks):

www.pharmacareerguide.com/challenge.html

You deserve a bright start in a new career today — so step up and take the challenge!
